REGISTRY

Your presence at my wedding is the greatest gift. I appreciate the effort you are making to join me, especially if you are traveling from afar.  I truly look forward to sharing this important day with you.

For my wedding registry, in lieu of gifts, I am inviting guests to contribute to my wedding fund and to donate to causes close to my heart. These three organizations embody values I want to support: spirituality, creative expression and activism; Staten Island and community involvement; and NYC DOGS!

If you’re unable to attend, please know you will be missed and I will acknowledge you at the wedding. If you feel inspired to make a contribution as a birthday or wedding gift or as a show of support, thank you! And if you don’t that is fine too.

I would like you to give to my wedding fund and also to one of my chosen causes. Feel free to split the total amount of your generous gift between as many causes as you like. Whatever you choose, I am honored and grateful for the support  and I am moved by your generosity and goodness.

THANK YOU!

CONTRIBUTE TO MY WEDDING FUND

My wedding fund will help cover the not-insignificant cost of this celebration of my dreams.

DONATE TO CAUSES I CARE ABOUT

Judson Memorial Church

Judson Memorial Church seeks to be a just, diverse, vibrant, and worshipping spiritual community through the pursuit of social justice, creative expression, and sacred exploration.

“Judson approaches faith not as a monolithic or unchanging set of beliefs but rather as a continual process of action, revelation and exploration.” - Reverend Micah Bucey, Judson Memorial Church

Please be sure to put “Nadette’s Wedding” in “Write a note (Optional),” right after choosing a Payment Method.

Staten Island Urban Center

SIUC strengthens the urban environment of Staten Island neighborhoods by way of youth & community development through youth & community involvement.

“I fell in love with the idea that people could be catalysts for social change.” - Kelly Vilar, Founder, Staten Island Urban Center

Please be sure to put “Nadette’s Wedding” in “Write a note (Optional),” right after choosing a Payment Method.

Muddy Paws Dog Rescue

Muddy Paws Dog Rescue builds and supports a thriving community of dog-loving humans dedicated to ending unnecessary euthanasia of companion dogs. We do this through shared learning and education, direct lifesaving, and continuous innovation.

“We take in as many dogs as possible each month (typically about 100 dogs join our care each month). We have welcomed nearly 110 NYC dogs this year, with more and more joining us each week. We do anticipate 2025 to be the year we take in the most dogs from Animal Care Centers of NYC in our history.” - Juliette Mazza, Donor Relations & Events Manager, Muddy Paws Rescue

MY WEDDING

This is not your typical wedding. My solo wedding does not include marriage to another person, nor to myself. But it is just as important and significant as any traditional wedding.

I am still on the journey of finding someone to share my life with, but at this time, instead of a marriage, I am having a wedding. This is not self marriage, sologamy or autogamy. This is a solo wedding in the true sense of the word and as far as I know, it’s the first of its kind. #solowedding

I have always wanted a wedding! I want to party with people I love and enjoy great food and drink with them. I want to wear a wedding dress, eat a wedding cake and throw a bouquet. I want to reflect on life’s transitions with my communities, toast life (l’chaim) and my friends. I want to have rituals led by a celebrant. I want to sing, dance and be merry. I want to laugh, cry and be surprised. I want a grand and beautiful love fest infused with my signature sense of play. I want a wedding!

I turned 60 this year and this milestone birthday is an opportunity to celebrate who and what is important to me. This “solo” wedding is also an ensemble piece. You are the ensemble! Be prepared to love and be loved! I want to bring my communities together to revel in joy and connection and to reflect on life and what we value, so we can navigate these challenging times with aplomb.

.

If you are still unsure about the concept of a solo wedding and what it entails, don’t worry — I am confident that everything will become clearer when you experience it in person. Even if you don’t “get it,” you will be glad you came.

It is my hope that at my wedding, you learn something about me you didn’t know, learn something about yourself you didn’t know, and learn something about someone else you didn’t know! My intention is that you leave pleasantly surprised with a warm feeling in your heart and inspiration in your soul.
